We are partnering with the
Santa Cruz SPCA via our ROOM for all fund to raise money for dogs and cats that need homes. We started the ROOM for all fund at the beginning of 2021, intending to raise money for various non-profits within our community. So far this year, we have helped raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz and the Native Animal Rescue foundation. The money that we are raising for the SPCA will sponsor the adoption fees for several animals that are looking for forever homes. Every adoptable animal comes spayed/neutered, microchipped, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworm/de-flea, and a voucher for the animal’s first vet appointment at the Chanticleer Vet Hospital.
The SPCA’s mission is to “provide a safe harbor for animals in need and promote an active humane community through adoption, advocacy, and education.” While there are many SPCA’s throughout the united states, each one operates as an independent 501c3. The Santa Cruz headquarters is located at 2601 Chanticleer Ave. The Santa Cruz branch of the SPCA was founded in 1938 by Dr. Charles Edward Graves. However, it would not become incorporated into the organization until 1955. During this time, they doubled as the Santa Cruz animal control. During this period, they assisted with covering veterinary fees for stray animals and spay/neutering. Modern-day SPCA is not affiliated with Santa Cruz animal control due to the county starting its own Animal Control Agency. In 2017 the Santa Cruz SPCA built a new, state-of-the-art facility just down the street from their original location. They continue to support animals through adoption services, educational programs, pet food pantries, and dog training.
If you’d like to learn more or donate to the SPCA, we invite you to attend our pictures with Santa event.
